Engageability of Mobile Mental Health Apps

Researched how user engagement indicators are measured and reported in apps designed for people with serious mental illness, through Harvard Medical Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Department of Digital Psychiatry.

Submitted a paper to the Lancet Psychiatry that is under peer review (September 2018).


CS 91: Independent Research

Researched the potential of mobile mental health apps to scale up access to treatment with the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Gajos research group and Harvard Medical Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's Department of Digital Psychiatry.

Presented a poster at the ACM Computer-Human Interaction (CHI) conference in Montreal. (April 2018)


Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence

Supported lawyers, technologists, policymakers, and researchers at the Harvard Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society and MIT Media Lab to build an institutional knowledge base of the ethics and governance of artificial intelligence.

Contributed to policy papers “What governments across the globe are doing to seize the benefits of autonomous vehicles” and “3 practical tools to help regulators develop better laws and policies.”

Provided research support for “Encryption policy and its international impacts: a framework for understanding extraterritorial ripple effects,” which was published in the Stanford Hoover Institution’s series on legal and policy issues at the intersection of technology and national security. (August 2017 - May 2018) 


CS 171: Visualization

Used D3 to create a range of static and interactive data visualizations and data stories.

Co-designed and developed a website about water shortages for a group final project. (December 2017)



Designed and developed civic technology that promotes participatory planning, in partnership with the UCSD Design Lab and City of San Diego. 

Co-wrote a paper that was presented at the ACM Computer-Human Interaction (CHI) conference. (August 2017)

Co-created Photeo, a user-friendly website that allows people to organize their photographs by event, title and annotate photographs, and apply filters. Uses a MySQL database and a lot of php. (December 2014)
